The Reno deputies are in jail for the beating of the Milkshake Man and its cover-up. Fortunately for the deputies, Mike Powers (Mather Zickel), the man that put them there, was hiding a bigger secret. Now free but unable to be in law enforcement, Jim Dangle (Thomas Lennon), Raineesha Williams (Niecy Nash), S. Jones (Cedric Yarbrough), Trudy Wiegel (Kerri Kenney-Silver), Clementine Johnson (Wendi McLendon-Covey), Travis Junior (Robert Ben Garant), and James Garcia (Carlos Alazraqui) are trying to find new directions for their lives…but the call for public duty might be too strong for them to ignore (no matter how hard they try). Mark Powers is on the run and could be the biggest threat to the deputies!
Reno 911!—Season 3 is a sketch police mockumentary comedy. The season aired from June 14, 2005 to September 6, 2005 on Comedy Central and continued to garner a solid fan base.
People are innocent until proven really guilty in Reno
Reno 911! is a series that can be picked up and put down. The series does have continuing storylines, but it is easy to watch and miss an episode. With that being said, watching every episode is much like The Office in that it benefits frequent viewers with inside jokes and continuing themes.
This season spins out of last season’s finale with everyone being fired. As this series goes, you knew that wasn’t going to last long (and it doesn’t). The status quo is returned by the third episode and I have to say, I’m kind of glad because I wasn’t enjoying how the prison stuff was being set-up and executed. I do love the villainy of Mike Powers however and I like him as a foil for the police…the evil vs. the inept.
This season also adds a regular cast member in Deputy Cherisha Kimball. Mary Birdsong previously appeared in season 2 as a masseuse and instead of trying to avoid awkwardness, the series embraces it by having Kimball named the “Cousin Oliver” of the series. She is hazed and ignored a lot of the season…the rest of the cast has settled into their roles and it is good to see it shook up in a realistic way with a character struggling to fit in.
Cat rescues aren’t their bag
A lot of the humor comes from the performances, but there also a number of great sight-gags in the series. From the Dangle and Junior hanging upside down in their car to my favorite joke of the season where a cat rescue goes horribly wrong. A lot of the jokes hit but when they are combined with some smart visuals as they often are, it lands even better.
Reno 911!—Season 3 is more of the same if you like the series. As mentioned, I had a hard time getting into the first couple episodes of the season, but then it starts cooking again (I would have loved to have had an episode of the Reno 911! substitute cast they introduced in the bumper scene of Season 2). If law is coming for you, Reno 911! shows you still might have a chance.

Jones (Cedric Yarbrough) are mall cops, Travis Junior (Robert Ben Garant) is working as a carny, Raineesha Williams (Niecy Nash) has moved to real estate, Clementine Johnson (Wendi McLendon-Covey) has decided to follow Steely Dan, and Jim Dangle is living his dream to become the next American Idol…when they all receive an invitation for a desert party, Mike Powers could have his revenge!
“Cop School”

There is a new crop of deputies to be picked, and Dangle’s crew is testing them to see who fits in the Reno department. Dangle and Junior investigate a potential robbery with Frisbee (Zach Galifianakis) and his brood.
“SARS Outbreak”

Reno’s Reading Ron (Brian Unger) comes to visit the Reno deputies but discovers that even things like cat rescues aren’t the most kid-friendly events. Dangle, Jones, and Trudy find a body in a home while serving a warrant and end up in a SARS quarantine.

The Prefect of Wanganui is visits Reno, and Dangle and Deputy Cherisha Kimball (Mary Birdsong) are assigned to pick him up from the airport. Trudy and Junior are at career day to get potential future deputies, but the military and Peace Corps recruiters might overshadow the Reno department.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is coming to Reno to shoot and the crew is hired to guard the set. Clementine and Dangle are sent door-to-door to warn people about the set-shoot but find their warning might work too well.

A stakeout at a massage parlor leaves Junior and Dangle trying to make their way across the city naked.
“Wiegel and Craig Get Married”

Craig Pullin (Kyle Dunnigan) facing his execution date, but his proposal to Wiegel means Wiegel and her friends have twenty-four hours to get a wedding together and stop the execution. Dangle and Garcia head to Tahoe to get a special gelatin cake while Junior and Clementine go to try to get a governmental injunction. Raineesha might have the toughest challenge of all…getting Wiegel to the beauty salon and fixing her up! The clock is ticking!
