Indy PopCon Is Coming!!!

popcon-graphicsCOMING SOON TO INDY:  The city is about to host another massive convention that is promising fun, games, collectables, and endless people watching for those who attend.  After the successful (but crowded) Indiana Comic-Con in March which offered Indiana its first major comic book convention, many were pleased but wanted a few changes…PopCon is promising to deliver!

Once of the biggest complaints about the Indiana Comic Con was that it was too crowded.  PopCon has reserved a bigger space for more venders but still is at the central location of the Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis.  Unlike the Indiana Comic Con, PopCon is looking for a wider range of entertainment for visitors with a broader spectrum of interests.  They are not just focusing on comics (but comics are an aspect), but entertainment and nerd/geek culture in general.  Already, in addition to artists and comic creators, PopCon is looking forward to having celebrity guests Ron Glass (Firefly), Sylvester McCoy (Doctor Who), Kristian Nairn (Game of Thrones), Joel Hodgson (MST3K), Nicholas Brendon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), comedians Paul and Storm, Kandyse McClure (Battlestar Galactica), TMNT creator Kevin Eastman, John DiMaggio (Futurama), Eric Stuart (Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh!), Rupert Boneham (Survivor), Steve Carderias (Power Rangers), Esme Bianco (Game of Thrones), Disney animator Tom Bancroft, Jackson Boswick (Shazam), and a number of local and national comic artists and comic creators.

If you are near Indianapolis (or in need of a convention and geek fix), come to the first (hopefully annual) PopCon May 30-June 1, 2014 in Indianapolis.  When you come, bring a can of food because Lambda Chi Alpha is working with the Gleaners Food Drive to help feed the hungry and homeless.  A link to the site can be found below to preorder tickets and keep up to date on schedule or any changes or additions.

Plays video games (basically from the start when a neighbor brought home an Atari 2600), comic loving (for almost 30 years), and a true critic of movies. Enjoys the art house but also isn't afraid to let in one or two popular movies at the same time.
